In April, the State of California launched the Housing is Key COVID-19 Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP), that is designed to significantly advance housing stabilization efforts across the state, including for residents of Los Angeles County facing potential eviction. While the program was closed to all residents of the City of Los Angeles since the end of April, as of September 1, 2021 all low-income renters impacted by COVID-19 in California who successfully submit an application by September 30, 2021, can be protected from eviction, and will be eligible to receive 100% of rent and utilities owed dating back to April 2020, in addition to three months of upcoming rent.
To protect as many Los Angeles County residents as possible from eviction, and in full partnership with the City of Los Angeles HOPWA Program, APLA Health and Wellness (APLA), and the Alliance for Housing and Healing (Alliance), DHSP is appealing to our service delivery partners to assist eligible residents with the Housing is Key Program application process.
